The Peacebuilding andConflict Resolution Certificate Program is a comprehensiveprogram focusing on the theory, models, and skills applicable topeacebuilding and conflict resolution which may be applied intransitional societies, complex humanitarian emergencies andwar-torn societies.
The course isdesigned to provide participants with the opportunities to buildbridges between theory and practice for those who must worktogether to make peace, keep peace and build peace inincreasingly challenging conflict situations. Negotiation andmediation processes and skills and process design are central tothe program.
The courseencompasses a wide range of materials in a highly interactivelearning environment. Participants will be introduced to thelatest theories, models and skills in the context of the mostcurrent developments in international conflict resolution. Therealities of conflict characteristic of the immediate post coldwar period and the challenges that intervening actors must faceis the point of departure.
Since Peacebuildingcentres more on how we think about and address conflict ingeneral rather than what we know about a specific conflict, thisprogram is not designed to impart large amounts of factualinformation. Instead, this program introduces course participantsto theories, models and theory-informed skills that are intendedto assist with the challenges that participants confront in anoperational context.
